Developer Analyst – Java/Object-Oriented/Oracle

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Java/Object-Oriented Developer/Analyst to work at Colorado State University, one of Colorado’s premier higher education institutions. The position is located in CSU’s central Information Systems Department (IS). The IS Department is involved in production support and maintenance of CSU’s central administrative systems Position will work on teams in the IS Department involved in application software development and ongoing support of CSU’s central administrative systems. Team and work assignments vary and include, but are not limited to, student, financial management, human resources/payroll, web-based, and mobile application systems. Must be a team player, analytical thinker, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be organized and able to take initiative to solve problems. Must have ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
Required Job Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related area; plus 3+ years of enterprise-level application development experience utilizing Java or other object-oriented programming language(s) and SQL. 2. Working knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and methods. 3. Experience developing with Oracle RDBMS or Microsoft SQL Server. 4. Working knowledge of all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) – analysis and design, construction, testing, implementation and production support. 5. Demonstrated customer focus through the establishment of strong customer relationships and collaborative problem solving. 6. Ability to work independently on projects and tasks as assigned by team leader(s) or unit manager. 7. Ability to perform critical user requirements and problem analysis, and take initiative to provide solutions. 8. Ability to work effectively with members of a team, with willingness to provide mentoring to other IS staff. 9. Experience with revision control/source code management tools such as Subversion or Git. 10. Prior experience and solid understanding of software change management and production turnover processes. 11. Excellent written communication skills.
